Presne takto dnes fungujú veľké jazykové modely (Large Language Models – LLM) – ide o umelú inteligenciu trénovanú na obrovskom objeme textových dát, schopnú porozumieť ľudskému jazyku a genereovať zmysluplné odpovede. Podľa prieskumov už viac než 65 % firiem bežne využíva generatívnu AI a ich počet raketovo rastie mckinsey.com.

Nižšie uvádzame prehľad najznámejších LLM súčasnosti – kto ich vyvinul, aké majú parametre a v čom vynikajú (prípadne zaostávajú).

Má vynikajúce výsledky v matematike, kódovaní aj všeobecných vedomostiach – v súťaži chatbotov dosiahol Elo skóre 1402, čím prekonal dovtedajšie špičkové modely OpenAI a Google x.ailatenode.com. Zaujímavosťou je režim „Think“, v ktorom Grok 3 dokáže cielene dlhšie premýšľať nad problémom a opravovať svoje chyby, čím napodobňuje ľudské uvažovanie x.aix.ai.

GPT-4 priniesol skokové zlepšenie v schopnosti rozumieť zložitým inštrukciám, riešiť problémy vo viacerých krokoch a dokonca pracovať s obrázkami (multimodálny vstup). Hoci presný počet parametrov nebol zverejnený, odhady hovoria o stovkách miliárd, prípadne využití techniky Mixture-of-Experts (kombinácia viacerých sub-modelov) pre vyšší výkon bez extrémneho navyšovania parametrov. GPT-4 sa vyznačuje vysokou presnosťou odpovedí a plynulým vyjadrovaním, vďaka čomu si získal dôveru v oblasti zákazníckych chatovacích botov, asistentov do kancelárskych aplikácií (napr.

O trochu slabší je v angličtine a všeobecnej znalosti jazyka oproti anglo-americkým modelom, no stále si vedie veľmi dobre.

To naznačuje veľmi dobrú efektivitu tréningu a architektúry.

  • LLaMA 3 (Meta) – Meta (Facebook) spôsobila v 2022 malú revolúciu, keď sprístupnila model LLaMA výskumníkom a v 2023 následne uviedla LLaMA 2 dokonca s komerčnou licenciou (vo verziách 7B, 13B a 70B parametrov).

Google má k dispozícii obrovské dátové zdroje (YouTube, Google Search) a špičkovú infraštruktúru (TPU v5 čipy), takže očakávania boli vysoké – cieľ bol prekonať GPT-4. Prvé verzie Gemini boli integrované do Google Bard koncom 2023 a ukázali zlepšenie, najmä v presnosti odpovedí. V roku 2024 prišli varianty Gemini Ultra a Pro.

  • Qwen (Alibaba) – Alibaba, čínsky technologický gigant, tiež vstúpil do hry LLM so sériou modelov zvaných Tongyi Qianwen (skrátene Qwen). V roku 2023 uvoľnil open-source verzie Qwen-7B a Qwen-14B, čo boli prvé väčšie čínske modely dostupné verejne.

Databricks v roku 2023 vzal voľne dostupný model (pôvodne 6 miliardový GPT-J, neskôr 12B model) a doučil ho na ~15 tisícoch otázkach a odpovediach (dostupných z výskumných datasétov) – čím vznikol Dolly.

Claude vo verzii 2 (uvedenej v lete 2023) dosiahol veľký pokrok: zvláda kontext až 100 tisíc tokenov (napríklad celý román alebo rozsiahly právny dokument) a v mnohých testoch konkuruje GPT-4.

  • Ernie (Baidu) – Čínsky internetový gigant Baidu vyvíja vlastný LLM s názvom Ernie (Enhanced Representation through kNowledge IntEgration).

To, čo by copywriter písal dlhé hodiny, zvládne AI v minútach.

Alebo viete AI nakŕmiť zákazníckymi recenziami (povedzme 5000 textov) a zadať: „Identifikuj hlavné sťažnosti zákazníkov a navrhni zlepšenia.“ Model dokáže vykonať sentiment analýzu a vytiahnuť najčastejšie témy (napr.

  • Automatizácia administratívy: Každá firma má kopec administratívnych úloh – e-maily, vyplňovanie formulárov, prípravu zmlúv, prepisovanie schôdzok do zápisníc. Aj tu vie AI pomôcť. Napríklad e-maily: LLM pluginy v Outlooku či Gmaile už dnes vedia navrhnúť odpoveď na prichádzajúci e-mail. Vy si len skontrolujete a prípadne upravíte tón. To isté s napísaním zápisnice z meetingu – ak máte k dispozícii prepis (z nahrávky pomocou speech-to-text), model zhrnie hlavné body, úlohy a dohody zo stretnutia. Ušetrí to čas hľadaním starých šablón.

  • IT a vývoj softvéru: Pre technologické firmy alebo IT oddelenia je AI už takmer neodmysliteľným pomocníkom. To výrazne skracuje čas písania rutinných častí kódu. Okrem toho, AI môže pomôcť s údržbou starého softvéru – ak máte 20-ročný kód v Cobole či inom archaickom jazyku, model vám ho pomôže porozumieť a nájsť v ňom problém bez toho, aby váš tím musel detailne študovať zabudnutý jazyk.

Mohli by sme pokračovať ďalšími oblasťami – napríklad v personalistike screening životopisov, v účtovníctve triedenie faktúr a kontrola nezrovnalostí, v logistike optimalizácia trás (v kombinácii s analýzou textových objednávok), atď.

Integrácia LLM do firemných procesov

Prelomové riešenia a inovácie v oblasti LLM

Vývoj AI je plný inovácií – prakticky každý mesiac počujeme o nejakom prelome. V prípade veľkých jazykových modelov môžeme spomenúť niekoľko kľúčových trendov a riešení, ktoré posúvajú hranice:

  • Nárast kontextového okna: Staršie modely vedeli naraz pracovať len s krátkym textom (napr. 2048 tokenov, čo je pár strán textu). Najnovšie LLM dramaticky zvyšujú tzv. kontextové okno – napríklad Claude 2 zvládne cez 100 000 tokenov, GPT-4 má verziu s 32k tokenmi a Grok 3 dokonca experimentuje s oknom okolo milión tokenov latenode.comlatenode.com.

To prináša prelomové možnosti – napríklad odfotiť poškodený diel stroja a AI vám poradí, čo s tým (rozpozná vizuálne, o aký diel ide a aké sú možnosti opravy).

To zlepšuje hlavne matematické a logické úlohy.

To je veľký posun oproti ére one-size-fits-all modelov.

Zhrnuté, prelomové riešenia ako multimodalita, AI agenti či extrémne dlhý kontext transformujú, čo všetko od AI môžeme získať. Modely sú výkonnejšie, spoľahlivejšie, dostupnejšie a flexibilnejšie. To, čo bolo ešte včera sci-fi (napr.

Kam to všetko smeruje?

Ľudia budú definovať ciele, poskytovať kritické myslenie, empatiu a kreatívny vklad; AI bude vykonávať grunt work, analyzovať obrovské dáta, generovať varianty riešení.

Trendom teda bude hyperpersonalizovaný zákaznícky zážitok – a kto ho poskytne, získa lojálnosť zákazníkov.

EÚ už pripravuje AI Act, ktorý bude zrejme vyžadovať, aby veľké modely prešli certifikáciou, označovali AI generovaný obsah a dodržiavali pravidlá transparentnosti a nediskriminácie.

Potenciálne to môže vytvoriť úplne nové spôsoby riešenia úloh, kde ľudský faktor bude možno len nastavovať ciele a dávať spätnú väzbu, a AI kolektív navrhne riešenie.

  • Automatizácia spracovania dokumentov v účtovníctve: Stredne veľká firma prijíma mesačne stovky faktúr a pokladničných dokladov. Pred zavedením AI musel účtovník ručne prepisovať údaje do systému, kategorizovať výdavky a kontrolovať správnosť DPH.

  • Rýchlejšie výberové konania: Personálne oddelenie malej IT firmy zápasilo s prehliadaním stoviek životopisov na každú otvorenú pozíciu.

Výsledok: nárast konverzného pomeru o niekoľko percent a vyššia spokojnosť zákazníkov, ktorí majú pocit individuálneho prístupu. Predtým by takú personalizáciu firma nezvládala, lebo by musela ručne vymýšľať tisíce variácií ponúk.

  • Technická podpora s AI nástrojmi: IT firma, čo dodáva softvér, implementovala AI do svojho helpdesku. To všetko zbehne v sekundách.

AI implementácia tiež niečo stojí (čas, zdroje, tréning ľudí) a treba ju priebežne ladiť.

Výzvy a etické otázky spojené s LLM

Akokoľvek sľubne AI znie, musíme hovoriť aj o rizikách a výzvach. Nasadenie LLM prináša viacero otázok, na ktoré firmy (a spoločnosť celkovo) musia nájsť odpovede:

  • Spoľahlivosť a presnosť: Najznámejší problém – AI občas halucinuje. Firmy by mali zbierať metriku presnosti – napr. porovnávať odpovede AI s overenou pravdou a ladit nastavenia.

Napr. ak AI chatbota použije banka a ten dá klientovi zlú finančnú radu, zodpovednosť nesie banka. Preto experti zdôrazňujú koncept Human-in-the-loop – AI nemá mať posledné slovo v zásadných veciach bez ľudskej validácie. Vo väčšine biznis procesov to ide zariadiť.

Firmy by mali mať AI etický kódex – aspoň základné princípy, čo s AI robiť nebudú (napr. nebudú ju používať na zavádzanie zákazníkov, nebudú ňou generovať fake recenzie atď.) a čo naopak chcú podporiť (transparentnosť, spravodlivosť).

  • Regulácie a súlad: Ako spomenuté, prichádzajú regulácie.

AI tiež otvára dvere k inováciám a novým službám.

Ich práca bude zaujímavejšia a napĺňajúcejšia. Napríklad právnik v tíme nebude musieť tráviť hodiny hľadaním judikátov – AI to spraví zaňho, on zatiaľ premýšľa nad argumentačnou stratégiou. Spokojnejší a produktívnejší zamestnanci znamenajú menšiu fluktuáciu a viac inovácií zvnútra firmy.

S AI sme v podobnom bode zlomu.

A konkurencia?

Imagine having an assistant that can read thousands of pages of documents in a fraction of a second, answer customer questions at midnight, or draft marketing copy on the spot. This is exactly how Large Language Models (LLMs) work today-they are artificial intelligence trained on a massive volume of text data, capable of understanding human language and generating meaningful responses. In recent years, LLMs have made their way from laboratories into the business world and are literally changing the rules of the game. Companies across various industries, from customer service to data analysis, are discovering that AI can help them speed up processes, reduce costs, and gain a competitive edge. According to surveys, more than 65% of companies already routinely use generative AI, and that number is skyrocketing mckinsey.com. Artificial intelligence is becoming as indispensable a technology as the internet once was-those who adopt it quickly will gain a competitive advantage; those who don’t risk falling behind.

The symbolic illustration in the opening photo demonstrates the collaboration between a human and an artificial agent: a robotic hand and a human hand reach out to each other in the manner of Michelangelo’s painting The Creation of Adam. This metaphor captures the increasingly close connection between AI and humans in solving complex tasks.

Today, LLMs power chatbots that can answer customer questions 24/7, help marketers generate content, assist programmers in writing code, and enable analysts to process data. This isn’t just a futuristic vision-it’s a reality unfolding right before our eyes. In this article, we’ll examine the current state of large language models, explore groundbreaking models and solutions, and, most importantly, discuss their impact on business and digitalization. This article is intended for entrepreneurs, innovators, and the general public-we’ll explore practical examples of AI applications, the latest trends for the next 5–10 years, as well as the challenges and ethical questions that come with AI. After reading this, you should have a clear idea of why you should start experimenting with AI today and how to do it. Let’s get started!

Overview of Large Language Models (LLMs)

The world of large language models is advancing at a dizzying pace. Not long ago, names like GPT-3 dominated the media; today, we have a whole range of next-generation models. Below is an overview of the most well-known LLMs today-who developed them, what their parameters are, and where they excel (or fall short).

Grok 3 (xAI) – A brand-new model from xAI, the company founded by Elon Musk. Grok 3 was unveiled in early 2025 and is a model focused on “truth-seeking” and advanced logical reasoning. It was trained on an extremely powerful supercomputer (xAI reports the deployment of 200,000 GPUs) and specially enhanced using reinforcement learning to solve complex tasks x.ai x.ai. It has excellent results in mathematics, coding, and general knowledge-in a chatbot competition, it achieved an Elo score of 1402, surpassing the previous top models from OpenAI and Google x.ailatenode.com. An interesting feature is the “Think” mode, in which Grok 3 can deliberately spend more time thinking about a problem and correcting its mistakes, thereby mimicking human reasoning x.aix.ai. The result is more accurate and logical answers. Grok 3 also offers a massive context window (reportedly up to 1 million tokens) and the DeepSearch feature-integration with the web for real-time information retrieval latenode.comlatenode.com. The model’s advantages include top-tier performance in specialized tasks and a relatively affordable price for users (xAI plans a monthly subscription of around $30–40) latenode.comlatenode.com. A potential drawback is that it is a new model-currently in beta and available only through the X AI platform-so we’ll have to see how it performs in real-world corporate deployments.

GPT-4 (OpenAI) – A model that sparked massive interest in generative AI in early 2023. It was developed by OpenAI (in collaboration with Microsoft) as the successor to GPT-3.5. GPT-4 brought a quantum leap in the ability to understand complex instructions, solve multi-step problems, and even work with images (multimodal input). Although the exact number of parameters has not been disclosed, estimates suggest hundreds of billions, or the use of the Mixture-of-Experts technique (a combination of multiple sub-models) to achieve higher performance without an extreme increase in parameters. GPT-4 is characterized by high response accuracy and fluent expression, which has earned it trust in the areas of customer chatbots, office application assistants (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot), and programming tools. It is considered the gold standard against which other models are compared. A drawback of GPT-4 is that it is a closed-source model (black box)-companies access it through paid APIs or Azure OpenAI services. Usage can be costly with larger data volumes (OpenAI charges per processed token), and the model has a limited context window (currently up to 32,000 words). For smaller companies, this means dependence on an external provider and concerns about the protection of sensitive company data sent to a third-party AI service.

DeepSeek R1 (DeepSeek) – A groundbreaking model from China that demonstrates that cutting-edge AI isn’t exclusive to American companies. DeepSeek R1 was launched in early 2025 by the startup DeepSeek and immediately caused a stir-it achieves comparable (and in some cases better) results in logical reasoning than the competition, yet its operating costs are only a fraction of those of models like GPT-4 builtin.combuiltin.com. This is because R1 uses a Mixture-of-Experts architecture and, while it has up to 671 billion parameters distributed across many “experts,” it only needs about 37 billion parameters to process a single input task builtin.combuiltin.com. In other words, the model is massive, but it uses only a small portion of it at any given moment-thereby conserving computational power. DeepSeek R1 is also open-source under the MIT license builtin.combuiltin.com, available for both research and commercial use for free, which is very appealing to companies.

DeepSeek also offers its own chatbot built on R1, which became the most downloaded app in the Chinese App Store upon launch, even surpassing ChatGPT builtin.combuiltin.com. R1’s strengths lie in logical reasoning, mathematics, and coding-in these areas, it outperformed most rivals in tests. It is slightly weaker in English and general language knowledge compared to Anglo-American models, but it still performs very well. For many companies, its low operating costs may be appealing-reportedly, it was trained on just a few thousand cheaper GPUs (H800s instead of the more expensive H100s) builtin.com, meaning running it “in-house” could be cheaper than paying for an API from OpenAI. One challenge is that the full version of R1 is hardware-intensive due to its size (671 billion parameters won’t fit just anywhere), however, DeepSeek has also provided 6 smaller, lightweight models (ranging from 1.5 billion to 70 billion parameters) builtin.com, which are easier to deploy.

Mistral Large (Mistral AI) – Europe’s response to American and Chinese dominance in LLMs. The French startup Mistral AI first made a name for itself in 2023 with its open-source Mistral 7B model, which achieved unexpectedly strong results for a model in the 7-billion-parameter category. In 2024, Mistral introduced the Mistral Large 2 model with 123 billion parameters cloud.google.comibm.com. Mistral’s specialty is optimization-the model is designed to run on a single server (single-node) and supports long context (tens of thousands of tokens) mistral.aidocs.mistral.ai. In internal tests, Mistral Large boasts performance nearly on par with GPT-4, despite having fewer parameters (123B vs. several hundred B) theregister.com. This suggests very high training and architectural efficiency. The model was trained multilingually and reportedly outperforms older models from Google (PaLM) and Meta (Llama 2) on many tasks. Mistral’s advantage is its openness-Mistral 7B was released under a license allowing commercial use, and it can be expected that larger models will also be available at least for research or through partners (e.g., as early as 2024, Mistral Large appeared in Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud services). European companies may find it interesting that this is a local product with support for European languages and less stringent restrictions than American APIs. A potential drawback is that Mistral Large is still relatively new and less proven in practice; additionally, the full 123B version is infrastructure-intensive, so small businesses are more likely to use smaller versions or cloud hosting.

LLaMA 3 (Meta) – Meta (Facebook) sparked a small revolution in 2022 when it made the LLaMA model available to researchers and subsequently released LLaMA 2 in 2023, even with a commercial license (in 7B, 13B, and 70B parameter versions). The open-source AI community thus gained powerful models for free, leading to an explosion of new projects (fine-tuned models like Vicuna, Guanaco, and others). The expected next step was LLaMA 3 around the turn of 2024/2025. Meta has not yet released official figures, but leaked reports suggest it could significantly scale up the model-there is talk of a version with 405 billion parameters (theregister.com), which would make it one of the largest “dense” models ever. The goal of LLaMA 3 is likely to match the quality of GPT-4 and surpass it in multilingual performance (Meta focuses on supporting many languages). If Meta were to make LLaMA 3 available to the general public again, it would be a huge benefit for businesses-a top-tier model for free that you can customize.

LLaMA 2 already gave companies the option to deploy AI locally (e.g., for data protection) or in the cloud at minimal cost. We’ll see if LLaMA 3 will be just as open; it’s possible that Meta will provide it primarily through its own infrastructure (e.g., integration into WhatsApp Business or their metaverse platforms). In any case, Meta is one of the few companies with the capacity and data to compete with OpenAI and Google, so LLaMA 3 could be among the most powerful models on the market. A potential drawback could be less fine-tuning for specific tasks-Meta models are typically released as base models, and specialized applications require additional training (which many companies are happy to do, since the model is theirs and there are no API fees).

Gemini (Google/DeepMind) – Google has long dominated the development of foundational AI technologies (it invented the Transformer architecture, upon which all LLMs are built). In 2023, however, it fell behind OpenAI in the field of deployed AI. The answer is supposed to be the Gemini project-a completely new generation of large models from Google DeepMind. From the start, Gemini has been developed as a multimodal model, capable of working not only with text but also with images or other inputs, and of effectively utilizing tools (calculators, search, etc.). Google has access to massive data sources (YouTube, Google Search) and cutting-edge infrastructure (TPU v5 chips), so expectations were high-the goal was to surpass GPT-4. The first versions of Gemini were integrated into Google Bard in late 2023 and showed improvements, particularly in the accuracy of responses. In 2024, the Gemini Ultra and Pro variants were released. According to unofficial benchmarks, Gemini achieves very high scores and, for example, in coding and task planning tests, it approaches the performance of human experts.

The advantage for businesses is that Google will likely offer Gemini through its cloud platform and API (similar to how the PaLM API is currently available), as well as integrate it into familiar tools-from Gmail to Google Analytics. For users of the Google ecosystem, AI will thus be literally just a click away. Furthermore, Google emphasizes the factual accuracy of responses and linking to current information (search), thereby addressing the issue of hallucinations. A potential drawback is that, like OpenAI, Google will likely offer only a closed service-meaning companies will have to trust Google with their data and pay based on usage. We’ll also see to what extent Google releases Gemini as a standalone product-for now, it’s primarily integrating it into existing services (e.g., into the BigQuery cloud for automated analytical insights). In any case, Gemini is one of the most powerful models, and in combination with the Google ecosystem, it has the potential to drive AI adoption across a wide range of businesses.

Qwen (Alibaba) – Alibaba, the Chinese tech giant, has also entered the LLM arena with a series of models called Tongyi Qianwen (Qwen for short). In 2023, it released open-source versions of Qwen-7B and Qwen-14B, which were the first major Chinese models made publicly available. Qwen is trained bilingually (Chinese and English) and has demonstrated decent performance, similar to LLaMA 2. In China, it powers Alibaba’s chatbot and services on Taobao; in English, it is used less frequently. Newer versions such as Qwen 2.0 (or Qwen 2.5) from 2024 have expanded both the scope and quality of builtin.com. Alibaba has a massive cloud platform (Aliyun) where it offers Qwen to companies for hosting, similar to how Azure offers GPT. Qwen’s strength lies in its integration into business processes-it can be deployed, for example, in call centers, translation services, and the like, and optimized using specific company data. For international companies, however, Qwen is not yet the first choice; rather, domestic Chinese enterprises are the ones benefiting from it. The advantage is that the base models are open-source and can be experimented with for free. A potential drawback is a certain lag in English language capabilities, as well as the fact that the open versions (7B, 14B) are still smaller and do not match the quality of GPT-4. Alibaba is likely also working on a much larger model for internal use (possibly hundreds of billions of parameters), but has not yet made it directly available.

StableLM (Stability AI) – Stability AI, best known for its image generator Stable Diffusion, has also ventured into language models. It released the StableLM series in various sizes (3B, 7B, 15B parameters) as open-source models. These models were not a breakthrough in performance; rather, they demonstrated Stability AI’s commitment to supporting the open-source community. Later, improved variants (StableVicuna, StableBeluga) trained on instructions appeared. In 2024, Stability AI indicated that it was working on a much larger model (possibly around 65–70B parameters) called StableLM 2. The goal is to achieve performance close to GPT-4 while keeping the model open-source. For small businesses, Stability’s models are attractive because they can be freely used and modified. For example, StableLM 7B can run on a better graphics card, so if a company doesn’t want to send data outside, it can fine-tune such a model internally. Of course, the 7B model has limited capabilities-it’s suitable for simpler tasks or as a foundation for a chatbot with specialized knowledge (after fine-tuning on proprietary data). The advantage is therefore freedom and low costs; the disadvantage, for now, is lower performance compared to massive models. However, Stability AI makes no secret of its ambition to compete with the big players in terms of quality as well-we’ll see if they can train a world-class model with a smaller team and budget, or if they’ll remain more of a supplier of “good enough” open models.

Falcon (TII UAE) – Another significant open-source addition comes from the Abu Dhabi Institute for Innovation (TII) in the United Arab Emirates. Falcon was introduced in 2023 in two versions-7B and 40B parameters-and immediately rose to the top of the rankings among open models in its category. For a time, Falcon-40B was considered the world’s best open-source model, and TII released it under the liberal Apache 2.0 license, allowing companies to use it freely. Falcon is well-trained in English and several other languages, excels at conversational tasks, and has relatively good logical abilities for its size. Many startups have used it as the basis for their own virtual assistants. TII is reportedly also working on a larger model (there was talk of 70B or even 180B parameters), but it hasn’t been released yet. The advantage of Falcon is that you don’t pay any licensing fees, and the 40B model is already quite capable-for a small business, it can serve as a sufficient foundation for an internal chatbot that answers customer FAQs or for a document summarization tool. Its disadvantages stem from its size-40B parameters do not match the quality of GPT-4, especially in complex tasks where it falls short. Deploying the 40B model also requires a high-end GPU (ideally an A100/H100 with 80GB of memory), so for everyday use, companies typically opt for a hosted solution or a smaller version.

Cohere (Command model) – Cohere is a Canadian startup focused on providing language models for businesses via an API, similar to OpenAI. Their models have internal designations such as Command, Embed, Summarize, and so on. Cohere’s largest model has approximately 52 billion parameters (comparable to GPT-3), and the company offers it in several variants: for example, Command-Light for faster responses and Command-XL for the highest quality. In 2024, Cohere, in collaboration with the C4AI community, even released an open-source version of Command-R, a 35-billion-parameter model available on HuggingFace and learn.microsoft.com. Cohere thus balances a closed commercial approach with partial openness for research. Cohere models are specifically trained to follow user instructions (so-called instruction tuning), making them suitable for chatbots designed to carry out commands. Cohere also offers the ability to fine-tune the model to your data, and their API is designed for easy integration into enterprise applications. The advantage is that you get performance similar to GPT-3.5, but with a greater emphasis on privacy (Cohere also offers the option of dedicated deployment) and potentially simpler negotiations for enterprises (Cohere targets corporate customers directly). The downside is that Cohere isn’t as well-known an ecosystem-fewer third-party tools and tutorials exist compared to OpenAI. Also, their largest model doesn’t yet reach the level of GPT-4, so it may not handle demanding tasks as well. For everyday use in marketing, customer support, or text analysis, however, Cohere is more than sufficient and often more cost-effective.

BLOOM (BigScience) – BLOOM deserves a mention as the first-ever open-source language model with 175 billion parameters (meaning it rivaled GPT-3 in size). It was created by the international collaborative team BigScience in 2022 with the goal of making a large model available to the public. BLOOM is unique in that it was trained on 46 languages and 13 programming languages, making it highly multilingual. Including Slovak and Czech-it is among the models that understand Slovak (though the quality of its Slovak generation is commensurate with the amount of Slovak text it has seen, meaning it is good for basic tasks). BLOOM was released under the so-called RAIL license, which allows commercial use but with certain restrictions (you may not misuse it to infringe rights, etc.). The advantage is that although BLOOM 176B is large and difficult to run, lighter versions have been created (e.g., BLOOMZ with instruction tuning, or smaller 7B BLOOM extracts). For research and local applications in linguistically diverse environments, BLOOM is a valuable asset.

In practical business deployment, however, it has fallen somewhat behind-models like LLaMA 2 and Falcon have surpassed it in both accuracy and speed. Furthermore, BLOOM does not handle instruction tuning as well (the original model was not trained as a chatbot). Therefore, companies prefer to choose more modern open models. Nevertheless, BLOOM was a milestone in open AI and is still used today in projects requiring broad language support (e.g., certain non-profit initiatives for automatic translation or text analysis in less common languages).

Dolly (Databricks) – Dolly is not so much a groundbreaking model from an architectural standpoint, but rather a groundbreaking idea: it demonstrated that a usable language model can be created at minimal cost. In 2023, Databricks took a freely available model (originally the 6-billion-parameter GPT-J, later a 12B model) and fine-tuned it on ~15,000 questions and answers (available from research datasets)-thus creating Dolly. While Dolly didn’t impress with its quality (it was more like a “discount ChatGPT”), Databricks released its weights and training data to the community. In doing so, it demonstrated that a company can create its own customized model in a few weeks without having to pay millions to OpenAI. Dolly kicked off a trend of many other open models fine-tuned for specific instructions. For small businesses, Dolly’s message is that if basic AI is enough to answer frequently asked questions or help with simple tasks, you don’t need hundreds of billions of parameters-a smaller model that you fine-tune on your own data might suffice. Today, we probably wouldn’t use Dolly (a 12B model from 2023) directly, but rather newer 20B+ open models, for example; however, the concept remains: fine-tuning a smaller model for a specific domain can deliver great value for little money.

Claude (Anthropic) – An alternative to GPT from Anthropic, a company founded by former OpenAI researchers. Claude is designed with an emphasis on safety and etiquette – it uses so-called Constitutional AI, where the model has rules (a constitution) built into its training on how to be helpful and do no harm. Claude version 2 (released in the summer of 2023) has made significant progress: it can handle contexts of up to 100,000 tokens (such as an entire novel or a lengthy legal document) and competes with GPT-4 in many tests. In fact, in a 2023 survey comparing LLMs, the Claude 3 Opus variant received the highest rating of all keywordseverywhere.com. Meanwhile, Anthropic is incrementing the version number (there is talk of Claude 3.5, codenamed “Sonnet” builtin.com). The advantage of Claude is that it has a more moderate output-it is less prone to hallucinating nonsense and prefers to admit when it is unsure.

In business, it is particularly valued for processing long inputs-companies use it, for example, to analyze contracts, where a 100-page document needs to be read and key points highlighted. Anthropic offers access to Claude via API (and has received investment from both Google and Amazon-meaning you can access Claude as a service through Google Vertex AI and AWS Bedrock). From a small business perspective, Claude is interesting because it competes with GPT-4 and is sometimes even cheaper. In October 2024, for example, Amazon announced that it would integrate Claude into its services-which could lower the price and increase availability. The downside is that it is, again, a closed-source model; moreover, Anthropic has strict policies regarding what the model is and isn’t allowed to do (the model sometimes refuses to address certain sensitive topics in detail). But if you’re looking for a reliable AI for business use with an emphasis on long documents and security, Claude is a strong contender.

Ernie (Baidu) – Chinese internet giant Baidu is developing its own LLM called Ernie (Enhanced Representation through kNowledge IntEgration). In 2023, they launched Ernie Bot, based on the Ernie 3.0-Titan model with ~260 billion parameters aimode.co. In late 2023, Baidu unveiled Ernie 4.0, which, according to Baidu’s CEO, “stands on the same level as GPT-4” coingeek.com. The parameter figures vary-some sources even cite trillions of parameters, though this may be an exaggeration or a different counting method (260B is likely a more realistic figure). Ernie 4.0 demonstrated its capabilities live in China, from writing essays to generating videos, and compared its outputs with GPT-4. Baidu, like Google, is integrating the LLM into its search engine and cloud platform. For businesses in China, this is crucial-it allows them to have advanced AI that complies with domestic regulatory requirements (censorship, etc.) and understands the specifics of the Chinese market. For Slovak or European entrepreneurs, Ernie does not yet play a major role, as it is focused on Chinese.

However, it demonstrates that the global AI race has multiple players, and the East is not standing still either. Baidu is investing heavily in AI research, so in the future we may see Ernie models adapted for other languages or exported through partner companies. For now, Ernie’s main contribution is the pressure it puts on the competition-Baidu boasts that Ernie 4.0 has improved performance in various tasks by tens of percent compared to version 3.0 (medium.com), which is forcing Western companies to stay on their toes.

Amazon Nova (AWS) – Amazon has long stayed out of the LLM space directly, instead offering third-party services via AWS (e.g., hosting GPT-4, Claude, StableLM, etc., on the Bedrock platform). However, at the re:

Invent conference in late 2024, it unveiled its own family of models, Amazon Nova aboutamazon.com. Nova is not a single model, but a whole suite of multimodal models of various sizes: Nova Micro, Nova Lite, Nova Pro, and Nova Premier aboutamazon.com. All can process text, images, and video as input, with Premier (available from Q1 2025) being the most powerful-designed for complex logical tasks and also as a teacher for distilling smaller models aboutamazon.com aboutamazon.com. Amazon trains its models on its own chips (Trainium) and optimizes them for low latency and cost. Nova’s goal is to offer companies a model with “good enough” performance at a better price than the competition-Amazon claims it has a top-tier price-performance ratio aws.amazon.com. Nova integrates directly into AWS services, such as the Bedrock platform (where you can call it via API) or the Amazon Bedrock Agents tool for workflow automation docs.aws.amazon.com.

For companies already using AWS, Nova will be a natural choice-imagine simply selecting “Use AI Nova Pro” in the AWS console and having generative capabilities in your project without the hassle of installing the model. Nova is also designed to work well with enterprise data-Amazon promises easy integration with structured databases, analytics tools, and the like (so-called “grounding”-AI responses grounded in specific internal data). Plus, let’s not forget about Alexa-Amazon will likely use Nova to improve the Alexa voice assistant, so it could handle more natural conversation and a wider range of questions. The downsides of the Nova models aren’t clear yet, since this is a new product. It’s possible that initially they won’t achieve top-tier performance like GPT-4 or Gemini Ultra; the Nova Micro/Lite models, in particular, will prioritize speed over absolute accuracy. But if they are cost-effective, many businesses may find that they don’t need the most advanced AI in the world-a reliable AI from Amazon that is X% cheaper is enough for them.

Nova could thus democratize AI for the masses of developers on AWS.

As you can see, the range of LLM models is broad today. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. It can be challenging for an entrepreneur to navigate this landscape-but generally speaking, there are closed commercial models (GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, Nova…) that you can access as a service, and open models (LLaMA, Falcon, StableLM, DeepSeek…) that you can download and run yourself. The following sections of this article will show us how to use these models in business and which ones are suitable for what.

LLM Applications in Business

You might be asking yourself, “What exactly can I use such a language model for in my company?” The short answer is: almost anything that involves working with text or knowledge. LLMs can read, write, summarize, explain, and generate new text-all of which can be applied in a variety of scenarios. Here are some of the most important areas:

Customer service and chatbots: This is probably the most visible area. Companies are deploying AI chatbots on websites, in e-shops, and on Facebook Messenger to answer common customer questions (business hours, order status, help with product selection). A high-quality LLM can hold a natural conversation and handle even more complex queries, not just predefined phrases. For example, an airline might have an AI agent that helps with flight rebooking or advises what to do if luggage is lost-without waiting for an operator. According to studies, conversational AI increases support staff productivity by up to 94% and speeds up request resolution by 92% masterofcode.com, while reducing customer support costs by roughly 30% springsapps.com. This doesn’t mean human agents will lose their jobs-rather, AI will handle routine questions, while humans tackle the most complex or emotionally sensitive cases. The result is a faster response to the customer (which increases satisfaction) and time savings for employees.

Marketing and Content: Text generation is the domain of LLMs. Marketing teams use AI to draft advertising slogans, product descriptions, social media posts, or even entire articles for the company blog. This saves hours of work on the initial draft-the model generates 3–4 text variants, and the marketer then refines them as needed. For example, a small travel agency can use an LLM to quickly prepare engaging descriptions of new tours in a style that appeals to clients. Or a fashion e-shop can have AI draft newsletter texts for the spring collection, tailored to different customer segments. LLMs can also be used for personalized marketing-generating slightly different texts for different groups (e.g., a different emphasis for younger customers versus older ones). What a copywriter would spend hours writing, AI can handle in minutes. Of course, human oversight of quality and tone is still necessary, but the content creation process is significantly faster.

Data analysis and reporting: Companies sit on mountains of data-from sales figures to customer reviews to internal reports. LLMs can help process this data into an understandable format. For example, you can provide the AI with output from Google Analytics or a sales export from Excel and ask it: “Summarize the key trends for the last quarter and create a bullet-point report from it.” The model will read the tables and generate a verbal summary (“Revenue grew by 8% this quarter, mainly thanks to the electronics category. The best-selling product was XYZ…”). Or you can feed the AI with customer reviews (say, 5,000 texts) and ask: “Identify the main customer complaints and suggest improvements.” The model can perform sentiment analysis and identify the most common themes (e.g., “Many customers complain about slow delivery and packaging quality; I suggest improving logistics and adding eco-friendly packaging”). This is an area where LLM acts as an analyst-assistant-it reads thousands of texts for us and tells us what they imply. Of course, you can’t always trust every AI interpretation, but as an initial overview, it’s incredibly useful. Large consulting firms are already experimenting with LLMs to help consultants extract insights from company data faster so they can focus on strategy.

Administrative automation: Every company has a mountain of administrative tasks-emails, filling out forms, drafting contracts, transcribing meetings into minutes. AI can help here, too. Take emails, for example: LLM plugins in Outlook or Gmail can already suggest a reply to an incoming email. You just review it and adjust the tone if needed. The same goes for writing meeting minutes-if you have a transcript (from a recording using speech-to-text), the model will summarize the main points, tasks, and agreements from the meeting. Drafting contracts or documents: AI can serve as the first draft. For example, it generates a framework for a contract for services based on your specified parameters (price, deadline, scope of work…), which a lawyer can then finalize. This saves time searching for old templates. When hiring employees, you can use AI to read through resumes-it will generate a summary of the candidate and may suggest a few follow-up questions for the interview. Repetitive, text-oriented processes can be automated using LLM, freeing up your employees’ capacity for more creative and valuable activities.

Decision support and strategic analysis: While we shouldn’t leave key strategic decisions entirely to AI, LLMs can serve as a “second opinion” or a quick research tool. Let’s say you’re considering entering a new market-you can ask the AI: “What are the main challenges of entering the German market in our industry?” The model (especially if it has web access) will search for relevant information and formulate an overview: for example, it will mention regulatory requirements, strong domestic competition, and customer expectations regarding quality. Or you can generate a brainstorming session: “Suggest 5 unconventional marketing campaigns for our product.” The AI will generate ideas that the team might not have thought of, and these can be further developed. In this sense, the LLM functions as a creative partner or researcher. Sometimes it comes up with a lot of fluff, but often something valuable shines through among the suggestions. It’s worth noting that AI has access to a vast general knowledge base (from training on the internet), so it can highlight trends and examples from other markets or industries that your team might otherwise miss.

IT and Software Development: For tech companies or IT departments, AI is already an almost indispensable assistant. LLM models like GPT-4 or Code Llama can generate source code based on a task description, help find bugs in code, or explain what a particular piece of code does. Tools like GitHub Copilot, built on OpenAI models, can speed up programming-according to Microsoft research, by as much as 55% github.blog. Imagine a programmer starts writing a function, and the AI automatically suggests completions based on analyzing thousands of similar cases from open-source projects. This significantly reduces the time spent writing routine parts of the code. In addition, AI can help with maintaining legacy software-if you have 20-year-old code in COBOL or another archaic language, the model will help you understand it and find problems within it without your team having to study the forgotten language in detail. For less experienced developers, AI acts as a mentor who offers guidance. For DevOps, AI can write automation scripts; for analysts, it can generate SQL queries, and so on. All of this leads to higher development productivity and faster time-to-market for products.

We could continue with other areas-for example, in HR, screening resumes; in accounting, sorting invoices and checking for discrepancies; in logistics, route optimization (combined with analysis of text-based orders), and so on. AI can contribute to almost every department in a company. The key is to identify a specific task or problem involving a lot of manual work with text or data, and test whether an LLM can automate or speed up part of it.

The Best LLM for Small Businesses?

A common question from entrepreneurs is: “Which model should I choose if I’m a small business with a limited budget?” The good news is that free or very affordable options are available today. For simple chatbots and basic automation, you can try open-source models like Llama 2 (7B or 13B) or StableLM 7B-they can run on an average PC or a cheap cloud server. They aren’t as powerful as GPT-4, but they can handle, for example, a website FAQ chatbot that covers common customer questions. If you need slightly higher quality, but still for free, try community models like Vicuna 13B (which is Llama fine-tuned for conversation) or Falcon 40B hosted on HuggingFace, for example-the latter can already compete with the older GPT-3.5 in many tasks. Translations and multilingual tasks can be handled by the open-source BLOOM model or Meta’s XLM.

If you prefer a ready-made solution without the hassle of running the model yourself, commercial APIs also offer affordable options. In addition to GPT-4, OpenAI offers the more affordable GPT-3.5 Turbo model, which costs only a fraction of the price (around $0.002 per 1k tokens) and is highly capable. Similarly, Anthropic’s Claude Instant service is a cheaper version of their model, yet still powerful enough for many tasks. The advantage of an API is that it scales as needed-if you have few requests, you’ll pay just a few dollars a month. Many platforms even offer a certain number of free calls to try out the service.

So for small businesses, the recommendation is: start with a cheap or open version and test the benefits. You don’t have to buy an enterprise license for thousands right away. You might find that the open model covers 80% of your needs. And if you hit any limits (e.g., the model makes too many errors or is slow), you can always switch to a more powerful paid model in the cloud.

Integrating LLM into Business Processes

Second practical question: “How do I actually integrate this AI? Do I need a team of programmers for that?” It depends on the use case, but the options are getting simpler. Many LLMs are available via REST API-meaning your software (website, mobile app, internal system) can query the AI model just as it would call any web service. OpenAI, Cohere, Anthropic, Amazon-they all have simple APIs with examples and SDK libraries for various languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.). If you don’t have your own software but want to use AI in existing tools, check out integrations: platforms like Zapier or Make already offer modules that connect AI with other services. This way, you can set up an automation so that when a new ticket is received in Zoho CRM, the AI is triggered to pre-process the ticket and send the result to Slack. No programming required-just connect the blocks (no-code).

Major software providers are adding AI features directly into their products: Microsoft has Copilot in Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)-just turn it on and you have an AI assistant for writing documents or creating presentations. Salesforce has its Einstein GPT assistant in CRM, and HubSpot is testing similar features. So it may be that AI integration is already available in the tools you use; you just need to activate it or pay a small extra fee for a new package.

For more advanced integration (e.g., a custom chatbot connected to an internal database), it’s often advisable to hire a developer or use a consulting firm with AI experience. But even here, the barrier is lowering-there are open-source frameworks like LangChain that significantly simplify AI application development. In these frameworks, you can define which sources the model should use (e.g., company documents), how it should proceed when solving a task (a sequence of steps), and so on, without having to build everything from scratch.

In other words, integration can be as simple as copying an API key and adding a few lines of code, or setting up a workflow in a no-code automation tool. The recommendation is to start small-integrate AI into a single process first and test it. For example, you could put a GPT-3.5-powered chatbot on your website, let it respond to customers for a month, and see how it goes. Based on the results, you can then either improve it (e.g., by connecting it to your data so it can provide more detailed answers) or expand its deployment to other channels.

Breakthrough solutions and innovations in the field of LLM

AI development is full of innovations-we hear about a breakthrough practically every month. In the case of large language models, we can highlight several key trends and solutions that are pushing the boundaries:

Increase in the context window: Older models could only process short text at a time (e.g., 2,048 tokens, which is a few pages of text). The latest LLMs dramatically increase the so-called context window-for example, Claude 2 can handle over 100,000 tokens, GPT-4 has a version with 32k tokens, and Grok 3 is even experimenting with a window of around one million tokens latenode.comlatenode.com. In practical terms, this means the model can “read” very long documents or files and process them all at once. For businesses, this opens up the possibility of having AI analyze, for example, an entire company annual report or a complete product manual in a single pass. The trend is toward “infinite” context-connecting to external memory or a database so that the model can access relevant information at any time, regardless of its length.

Multimodality: Humans perceive the world through multiple senses, so why limit AI to text alone? Multimodal models like the aforementioned Gemini or Amazon Nova allow you to input images or audio as well. OpenAI has also introduced GPT-4 Vision, where the model describes the content of images. This opens up groundbreaking possibilities-for example, you can take a photo of a damaged machine part, and the AI will advise you on what to do (it visually recognizes what the part is and what repair options are available). Or you can show it an Excel chart and ask for a summary of the trend; the model will “see” it visually and describe it in words. Multimodality will become increasingly common; within 5 years, we may be talking to an AI assistant that sees, hears, and responds with its voice (a combination of LLM, speech recognition, and speech synthesis), which will completely change interaction-it will be like communicating with a colleague, not typing commands into a computer.

Tool Integration (Tool Use): Another innovation-we’ve realized that an LLM doesn’t need to know everything if it can connect with other tools. The concept of AI agents has emerged, where a model gains the ability to call external functions: for example, a calculator, calendar, knowledge base, or perform a web query. The model itself “decides” when to call upon such a tool to obtain accurate data. For example, if you ask it about the current weather, the model knows it doesn’t have up-to-date data, so it calls the weather API and gives you the answer. This solves the problem of outdated knowledge and factual hallucinations. Projects like LangChain and GPT-Engineer showcase agents capable of performing relatively complex tasks-breaking down a problem into steps, searching for information, calculating, combining results, and providing an answer. This is a glimpse of future “analyst robots.” Already today, for example, Microsoft Bing Chat uses GPT-4 integrated with the Bing search engine, so it directly cites current web sources in its answers. Similarly, Elon Musk highlights the DeepSearch feature in Grok 3-the AI actually reads the web when it needs to. latenode.comlatenode.com. For businesses, this means that AI can be not just a language model, but a comprehensive agent capable of taking action-for example, it can navigate your internal systems, find the necessary data, process it, and deliver the results to you, all autonomously in the background.

Improved logical reasoning and reliability: A major challenge for LLMs was so-called “hallucination”-the model confidently generates false information. Researchers have introduced several techniques to mitigate this. One is the aforementioned integration of tools (it’s better to call on a calculator than to guess the result of a calculation). The second is “chain-of-thought,” which involves guiding the model to work out a solution step by step (even internally). This improves mathematical and logical tasks in particular. Models like Grok 3 were specifically trained using reinforcement learning to think thoroughly and check their answers x.aix.ai. DeepSeek R1, on the other hand, was trained to explain its reasoning builtin.combuiltin.com-this helps uncover potential errors and increases transparency. Verification models are also emerging-for example, you use a second model to check the first model’s claims against a knowledge base. These innovations are leading to AI that we will trust more in critical applications (medicine, law, financial advice), because it will make fewer mistakes and stick more closely to the facts.

Reducing model size (compression, distillation): Not every company can afford a model with 500 billion parameters, but what if it could be scaled down without losing performance? This is where techniques like model distillation come in-a large model (teacher) is used to generate answers, and a small model (student) is trained on these examples, thereby learning similar behavior with significantly fewer parameters. DeepSeek, for example, has released 6 scaled-down versions of its R1 model on builtin.com. Meta, on the other hand, found that LLaMA 2 13B, with proper fine-tuning, can compete with significantly larger models. In practice, this means cheaper and faster AI-you don’t need the latest GPUs; it might even run on a CPU or a mobile device. Research is also moving toward so-called quantization-converting the model to lower precision (8-bit or 4-bit numbers instead of 16-bit), which dramatically reduces memory requirements. There are already versions of LLMs that run in 4-bit quantization with minimal loss of quality. This is crucial for wider adoption-in a few years, every corporate server might run its own LLM assistant, since it can make do with standard hardware.

Specialized LLMs and fine-tuning: While development has so far focused on universal models, a trend toward domain-specific models is emerging. For example, Bloomberg has trained BloombergGPT, a model specialized in financial data and news-so it provides financial analysts with more relevant answers than a generic GPT. Similarly, medical LLMs (trained on medical texts), legal LLMs, and others are emerging. For companies, this means the opportunity to have an AI expert in a specific field. It may not be able to talk about recipes or sports, but within its domain (whether it’s the petrochemical industry or intellectual property law), it will be highly accurate. Fine-tuning models on proprietary data is becoming increasingly accessible-OpenAI offers GPT-3.5 fine-tuning for customers, and open-source communities have tools to fine-tune Llama models with just a few hours of training. So a company can train its own model that understands internal terminology, procedures, and preferred communication styles. This is a major shift from the era of one-size-fits-all models.

In summary, groundbreaking solutions like multimodality, AI agents, and extremely long context are transforming what we can get from AI. Models are more powerful, more reliable, more accessible, and more flexible. What was science fiction just yesterday (e.g., AI that can independently complete a mini-project) is in the demonstration phase today and could be a common work tool tomorrow.

Among today’s most powerful LLMs are GPT-4, Gemini, Grok 3, DeepSeek R1, and Claude 2/3-these mostly top the benchmark rankings. But what’s important is that even smaller open-source models have reached a point where they’re good enough for a wide range of tasks. So innovation for business isn’t just about having the most advanced model, but knowing how to use it correctly.

The Future and Trends for the Next 5–10 Years

Where is all this heading? What will LLMs look like in five or ten years, and how will they impact business? Here are a few predictions and trends that experts anticipate:

AI assistants everywhere: Just as everyone has a smartphone and internet access today, soon everyone will have access to a powerful AI assistant. Whether in the form of a mobile app, a feature in the operating system, or AI integrated into enterprise software. In 5 years, it will be natural to ask our digital assistant for advice instead of Googling or flipping through a manual-and they’ll provide an answer instantly. For companies, this means a dramatic acceleration of knowledge-based work-a new employee will have assistants at their fingertips to quickly train them in processes, a salesperson will receive real-time whispered tips in their earpiece on what to say to a customer based on an analysis of their reactions, and so on. AI will be ubiquitous, but perhaps less visible-simply part of the environment.

The combination of human and artificial intelligence: It’s not that AI will fully replace humans. Rather, a new symbiosis will emerge-the concept of “centaur” teams, where humans and AI work together in harmony. Humans will define goals, provide critical thinking, empathy, and creative input; AI will do the grunt work, analyze massive amounts of data, and generate solution options. Companies that master this will be extremely efficient. Those that resist AI or use it incorrectly may fall behind. As the saying goes: AI won’t replace people, but people who use AI will replace those who don’t. So the trend will be reskilling-teaching the broader workforce to collaborate with AI. According to surveys, nearly 61% of employees are already using or plan to use generative AI (salesforce.com), and within three years, 92% of companies want to increase their AI investments (mckinsey.com)-so let’s prepare for “AI skills” to be a requirement in nearly every job posting.

AI in Management and Strategy: As AI becomes more trustworthy, we will gradually see it enter higher management roles. Already today, some corporate boards consult AI for strategic decisions (e.g., simulating scenarios with AI models). In the future, it may not be absurd for a company to have an “AI officer” in its leadership - an AI system that monitors the flow of information and alerts managers to risks and opportunities in real time. Of course, the final say will remain with people, but AI will provide data-driven guidance free of emotions or biases. This can lead to more efficient operations within organizations. On the other hand, questions of liability will arise-if AI gives bad advice, who bears the consequences? Clear boundaries and rules will need to be established, but from a technical standpoint, AI will be powerful enough for these tasks.

Personalization on a massive scale: Marketing and products will be increasingly tailored to each individual, thanks to AI. Even today, an e-shop can display different content to different people based on their behavior. With LLM, this will go even further-every customer could have a personal AI concierge that knows them and communicates with them individually on behalf of a given brand. For example, a car manufacturer might assign you an AI assistant after you buy a car, helping you with everything from service to radio settings, and understanding your preferences. Such a level of personalization would be unthinkable with human labor (millions of workers), but with AI, it’s possible. The trend, therefore, will be a hyper-personalized customer experience-and whoever provides it will win customer loyalty.

The emergence of new professions and the disappearance of old ones: Let’s be honest, automation with LLM will likely replace some routine positions. For example, there may be fewer first-level customer support roles, certain administrative positions, and perhaps even junior analytical jobs. On the other hand, however, new roles are emerging-such as AI prompt engineer (a specialist in creating effective prompts for AI), AI ethicist (who oversees the ethical aspects of AI use within the company), AI trainer (who trains models on company data), and so on. Just as computers did not completely replace people but changed the nature of work, AI will do the same. It is estimated that by 2030, AI will create more jobs than it eliminates; however, the new ones will require different skills. That is why it is important for companies to invest in developing their people alongside AI. Train employees on how to use AI tools, retrain them for more skilled tasks where they add value beyond what a machine can handle.

Regulation and Standards: As the influence of AI grows, greater regulation will certainly follow. The EU is already drafting the AI Act, which will likely require large models to undergo certification, label AI-generated content, and adhere to rules of transparency and non-discrimination. Within 5 years, we will likely have regulatory frameworks similar to those we have for the financial sector. Companies will have to prove that their AI systems are safe and ethical. We may see audits of AI algorithms, licenses for use in sensitive sectors, and so on. This is actually a trend: “taming” AI-so that it serves society and does not slip into risks (spreading misinformation, bias against minorities, etc.). For entrepreneurs, this means keeping an eye on legislation and being prepared, for example, to label AI-generated content (so customers know whether they’re communicating with a human or a machine) and to implement measures against misuse.

AI Collective Intelligence: Within the next 10 years, we may see a scenario where multiple models collaborate with one another, or where AI works alongside humans on open platforms. Imagine a marketplace where AI agents (representing various companies or even individuals) negotiate and conduct business in real time. Or that several specialized LLMs (one expert in law, another in finance, another in psychology) form a team that jointly advises a manager. That sounds futuristic, but research is moving in that direction-orchestrating multiple AIs for complex problems. This has the potential to create entirely new ways of solving tasks, where the human factor might only set goals and provide feedback, and the AI collective proposes the solution.

Scaling toward AGI? Many companies (OpenAI, DeepMind…) openly state that the goal is to achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), i.e., AI capable of matching humans in all intellectual domains. Whether they will achieve this within 10 years is uncertain, but they will be closer to it. Perhaps in just a few years, there will be models with trillions (10^15) of parameters, trained on the bulk of human knowledge, that will exhibit elements of “understanding” and creativity so advanced that it will be difficult to distinguish them from humans. For business, this would mean a massive acceleration-AGI would be able to manage many processes on its own. Of course, concerns are also arising-which is why there is already pressure today on AI safety research to ensure that if a very powerful AI emerges, it will be under control and properly “raised.” It is quite possible that within 10 years, some companies will have AI systems at the level of junior managers, which will manage day-to-day operations. Science fiction? Perhaps, but the pace of progress in AI is exponential, so we don’t even need to think of this as a distant future.

From the perspective of trends in the coming years, we can summarize as follows: AI will become an integral part of business, just like electricity or computers. The market for AI solutions will grow dramatically-estimated to rise from $6.4 billion in 2024 to over $36 billion in 2030 (keywordseverywhere.com, and that’s just the LLM segment). The applications we are testing today will become commonplace in the future, and entirely new ones-ones we haven’t even considered yet-will emerge. It is essential for entrepreneurs to keep pace, monitor new developments, and try to implement those that make sense for their business. The pace of change is immense; standing still could mean missing the boat.

Process Optimization with AI: Practical Examples

After all this information about models and trends, let’s look at very specific examples of how AI is already helping companies save time and money today. A few real-world scenarios:

Automation of document processing in accounting: A medium-sized company receives hundreds of invoices and receipts every month. Before implementing AI, the accountant had to manually enter data into the system, categorize expenses, and verify VAT accuracy. After implementing an LLM solution, documents are simply scanned (OCR converts them to text), and an AI model (fine-tuned for accounting terminology) extracts the necessary information: supplier, amount, VAT, and expense category. In case of ambiguity, it flags the item for review. The accountant no longer has to retype everything; they simply review the AI-filled fields and confirm them. The result: a 50–70% reduction in processing time and lower risk of error (AI won’t overlook a number in a document as easily as a tired person).

Faster hiring processes: The HR department of a small IT firm struggled with sifting through hundreds of resumes for every open position. They introduced an AI assistant that pre-screens CVs-it scans the text, identifies key qualifications and experience, assesses relevance for the role, and ranks the candidates. The recruiter then focuses on the top 20% and reviews those manually. Additionally, the AI generates a short summary for each candidate (“5 years of experience in Java, experience with fintech, strengths: leadership, weaknesses: no experience with the startup environment”). This saved hours of time and shortened the hiring cycle from perhaps 8 weeks to 6. Of course, the final decision and interviews are conducted by people, but the pre-screening is faster and more objective (AI can be configured to disregard factors such as gender or age, thereby reducing bias).

Dynamic pricing offers in an e-shop: An online electronics store has implemented AI that generates personalized pricing offers for customers in its loyalty program. When a logged-in customer returns to the e-shop and views a product, the AI evaluates their purchase history, loyalty, and likelihood of purchase and prepares a personalized offer-for example, “We see that you like X-brand smartphones; if you buy this one within 24 hours, you’ll get a free case and a 5% discount.” All of this is generated automatically by an LLM model, which adapts the wording to the customer’s style (using informal or formal language as appropriate; if it’s a family customer, it mentions benefits for the family, etc.). The result: a several-percent increase in the conversion rate and higher customer satisfaction, as customers feel they’re receiving personalized attention. Previously, the company would not have been able to handle such personalization, as it would have had to manually come up with thousands of variations of offers.

Technical support with AI tools: An IT company that supplies software has implemented AI into its help desk. When a ticket with a problem comes in from a customer, the AI automatically analyzes it-if it’s a known issue, it attaches a proposed solution to the ticket (e.g., a link to documentation and recommended steps). Support can thus respond to the customer immediately or at least has the necessary information. If the issue is new, the AI generates a summary of the error and suggests which team to assign it to. All of this happens in seconds. Result: on average, the time to first response to the customer has been reduced from several hours to a few minutes, and issues are resolved in the right place the first time (tickets aren’t shuffled between teams). Customers report higher satisfaction, and the support team can handle more requests without increasing headcount.

Sales Manager with “AI in the Ear”: Sales representatives at a B2B services company have started using an experimental app that listens in on their calls with clients in real time (with consent, of course) and displays key information on their screen. For example, when a client mentions a competitor or a specific requirement, the AI recognizes it and immediately displays talking points against the competition or the product details the salesperson needs. If a client asks a question the salesperson doesn’t know off the top of their head, the AI quickly “whispers” the answer from the knowledge base. As a result, the salesperson comes across as very quick-witted and knowledgeable, and doesn’t have to say, “I’ll get back to you on that.” This can increase the closing rate. Additionally, after the call, the AI generates a transcript and next steps, saving the salesperson administrative work. Such a system is complex but already technically feasible-it combines speech recognition, an LLM model for text analysis and generation, and a corporate knowledge database.

Production Optimization: In the factory, production lines are monitored by hundreds of sensors. An AI model (a combination of LLM and time-series analysis) processes machine logs daily and generates a report for maintenance managers: It alerts them with a message stating, “Machine No. 5 has shown a 30% increase in vibration over the last 48 hours compared to normal levels; I recommend checking the bearings-this may indicate early wear.” In the past, no one might have noticed this until the machine broke down. Now, AI proactively suggests maintenance. Similarly, when planning production, a manager can ask in natural language: “Please prepare an optimal production plan for next week, assuming we expect a 10% drop in orders and want to use spare capacity for maintenance.” The model combines data on orders, capacities, and downtime to generate a plan-for example, it suggests which production lines can be shut down and how many of each product type to manufacture so that inventory levels aren’t exceeded but all deliveries are fulfilled. Such complex planning used to take an analyst days; AI can handle it in a few minutes, though it is, of course, then reviewed by a human.

These examples illustrate that AI can be applied in various processes: from back-office to front-office, from manufacturing to HR. The greatest benefits lie in time savings (automation of routine tasks), reduced error rates (AI won’t skip a field in a table if it’s set up correctly), and faster response times (which often leads to a better customer experience and higher revenue).

As for return on investment (ROI) in AI-many managers need to see the numbers. It varies by project, but surveys show that most companies are already seeing ROI: for example, 74% of organizations report that they are already seeing a return on their investments in generative AI cloud.google.com. Many executives expect ROI within 1–3 years cfo.com, which is relatively short. And here’s an interesting statistic: companies using open-source AI report a positive ROI more often (51%) than those using only proprietary solutions (41%) newsroom.ibm.com-likely because open source reduces their costs newsroom.ibm.com. In fact, a Microsoft study estimates that AI for developers could increase global GDP by $1.5 trillion github.blog thanks to increased productivity.

Of course, don’t expect miracles overnight. AI implementation also comes at a cost (time, resources, staff training) and requires ongoing fine-tuning. But as we can see, properly deployed AI pays for itself very quickly-whether through savings in man-hours or increased revenue from improved services. Gradual optimization is ideal-start with the “low-hanging fruit” (simple automation, an FAQ chatbot) and gradually add more complex integrations. The ROI from these small steps then funds the next ones.

Challenges and Ethical Issues Related to LLM

As promising as AI sounds, we must also discuss the risks and challenges. Deploying LLMs raises several questions that companies (and society as a whole) must address:

Reliability and accuracy: The most well-known problem-AI sometimes hallucinates. It generates a response that sounds great but is factually incorrect. In casual conversation, this may not matter, but in a business context, it can cause damage (e.g., AI gives a customer incorrect product information or miscalculates an analysis). That’s why human oversight of critical outputs is essential. When AI prepares a report, have an expert review it before use. When AI suggests code, have a programmer test it. Things are gradually improving (as we mentioned, techniques to reduce hallucinations exist), but caution still applies: trust, but verify. Companies should collect accuracy metrics-e.g., compare AI responses with verified facts and fine-tune the settings. Accountability: if the AI makes a mistake, the client must be apologized to just as if a human had made it, and the error must be corrected.

Bias and discrimination: LLMs learn from data that may contain all sorts of biases (gender, racial, etc.). Without proper handling, these biases can be reproduced or even amplified. For example, a model might suggest lower salaries for women if it was trained on historical data where that was the case, or provide poorer customer service to a certain group if it detected some bias in the data. It is unacceptable for AI to discriminate. The solution involves careful filtering and weighting of training data, followed by testing the model-so-called bias testing. Companies should only deploy AI after testing it across various scenarios: how it responds to men vs. women, to different names and nationalities, etc. If any bias is detected, the model must be adjusted (through fine-tuning with an emphasis on inclusive behavior) or rules must be implemented. For example, OpenAI and Anthropic have a “constitution” for their model, where one of the rules is impartiality and courtesy toward everyone. Corporate deployments should also adhere to this. There are also legal penalties: in some countries, a company could face a lawsuit if its AI systematically disadvantaged a certain group (e.g., during recruitment). So anti-bias measures are not only ethical but also legally necessary.

Privacy and data protection: A major concern is what happens to the data when we send it to a third-party AI (API). It may contain sensitive information-trade secrets, customers’ personal information, etc. Some cases (e.g., the leak of Samsung’s internal information via ChatGPT when an employee copied it there) have already served as a warning to companies. Solutions: either avoid using public services for sensitive data (i.e., deploy an open model locally or use a service that guarantees no data storage), or anonymize the inputs. For example, if a legal department wants to get the AI’s opinion on a contract, it could remove names and numerical data. Many providers now offer an opt-out from training-i.e., the data you send via the API will not be used to improve the model. OpenAI has implemented this for business customers. Amazon Bedrock promises that data will not leak anywhere through their AI models. In any case, companies should have clear guidelines: what data can be sent to external AI systems and what cannot. They should also contractually ensure with AI service providers that they will respect privacy (DPA – data processing agreement). The GDPR also applies in the EU – if AI processes personal data, the company must ensure compliance (e.g., delete data upon request, etc.).

Security and misuse: Just like email or the web, AI can be misused. For example, hackers may try to force a model to reveal information it shouldn’t (so-called prompt injection attacks). Or they can use AI to generate phishing messages or deepfake texts to deceive employees. Companies must also consider cybersecurity in the context of AI. One level is the security of the model itself-when deploying an open model, care must be taken to ensure it runs in a secure environment and does not have unnecessary access to internal systems. The second aspect is security protocols-for example, training employees that even if they receive an email written in excellent Slovak (which, thanks to AI, is no longer a problem for attackers), they should still be cautious and not click on suspicious links. An in-house AI assistant could help issue warnings-it could analyze incoming emails and flag those showing signs of fraud. Overall, security teams must constantly develop new procedures, because attackers now have AI at their disposal as well.

Human oversight and accountability: If a company deploys AI, it cannot hide behind the excuse “the AI did it.” For example, if a bank uses an AI chatbot and it gives a client bad financial advice, the bank bears the responsibility. That is why experts emphasize the “human-in-the-loop” concept-AI should not have the final say on critical matters without human validation. This can be arranged in most business processes. It is necessary to define when AI makes decisions on its own (in low-risk situations such as product recommendations) and when it only makes suggestions that a human approves (e.g., AI could propose a loan approval, but a live manager would sign off on it). Clear rules must also be established for when AI shuts down-e.g., if it begins to behave inappropriately or if it is not sufficiently certain. Some companies implement so-called “stopwatches”-if the model generates an output and determines that it is uncertain (e.g., it is outside its knowledge base), it escalates the matter to a human.

Ethics and the impact on people: Every implementation should be guided by the question: “Is this beneficial for our customers/employees/society?” For example, is it ethically acceptable for a customer to be unaware that they are chatting with a bot and to believe they are talking to a human? Perhaps they should be informed (and legislation may soon require it). Is it right to replace a certain job position with AI? Shouldn’t we rather move that person to a different role and give them AI as an assistant? How do we ensure that AI doesn’t spread misinformation or hateful content? These questions are complicated. Companies should have an AI code of ethics-at least basic principles regarding what they will not do with AI (e.g., they will not use it to mislead customers, they will not use it to generate fake reviews, etc.) and what they want to promote (transparency, fairness). They should also collect feedback from users-if customers complain about an AI assistant’s behavior, take it seriously and adjust it. Many large companies have already established ethics committees for AI; smaller ones often leave it to managers’ common sense-but at the very least, a discussion on these topics should take place.

Regulations and Compliance: As mentioned, regulations are coming. A company deploying LLM must consider legal compliance. The EU AI Act may introduce risk categories-for example, AI in HR or healthcare will likely be “high-risk,” and a so-called conformity assessment (demonstrating safety). The GDPR also addresses profiling and automated decision-making-if AI makes decisions about clients, you may need to allow them to request human intervention and an explanation of the decision. All of this needs to be monitored, and it’s best to start implementing “privacy by design” and “ethics by design” procedures now. Don’t be surprised later when you have to rush to overhaul your AI systems because they don’t comply with the new law.

Summary: AI is a powerful tool, but it must be handled responsibly. Just as a car needs brakes and a driver’s license, AI needs control mechanisms and trained users. Risks such as inaccuracy or bias can be mitigated both technically and procedurally. It is important not to neglect this aspect-quick benefits are tempting, but if AI causes a major blunder (e.g., publicly offending a client with an unfortunate response), it could cost the company its reputation. Fortunately, both the community and companies are addressing this; there are numerous guides and best practices on how to deploy AI responsibly and ethically. It’s worth investing time in this-the trust of customers and employees is key, and only those companies that use AI in a way that benefits everyone involved will retain it.

Conclusion: Why Start Using AI Today?

The business world is undergoing an AI revolution. Large language models can open up new possibilities for companies-from improved efficiency to innovations in services that were previously impossible. So why should you, as an entrepreneur or manager, pay attention to AI now, rather than wait?

First and foremost, those who adopt AI sooner will gain a competitive edge. They will outpace those who hesitate in terms of productivity, speed, and flexibility. We’re already seeing companies that, thanks to AI, are accomplishing more with fewer people, responding faster to market demands, and offering a better customer experience. For example, e-commerce sites with AI chatbots have higher conversion rates than those without; consulting firms with AI analysts can serve more clients in less time; marketing agencies using AI-generated content dominate social media. Your competitors aren’t sleeping-if you don’t experiment, your rival might, and they’ll take a bite out of your market share.

Furthermore, AI helps cut costs. Yes, implementation costs money, but as we discussed above, the return on investment is usually quick. Fewer routine hours = lower personnel costs or the ability to deploy the same people elsewhere. Fewer errors = money saved on repairs, complaints, or fines. Faster customer service = higher revenue (the customer won’t leave for the competition due to slow service). Investing in AI is an investment in efficiency-and efficiency translates directly into financial results. Already today, 78% of business leaders believe that an investment in generative AI will pay for itself within 3 years cfo.com. Letting AI do the boring work actually makes sense-why pay a person to manually copy data when you can pay them for more creative tasks and let AI handle the copying?

AI also opens the door to innovation and new services. Perhaps thanks to it, you’ll come up with a product that no one has offered before. Or you’ll reach a new group of customers because you can now communicate with them in a personalized way, in their own language. For example, a small local bookstore can use AI to create an online recommendation portal that competes with large chains-AI recommends books just as well as Amazon’s algorithm. Or a furniture manufacturer could launch an AI designer for customers-they enter a room, and the AI designs an interior using its products. A few years ago, something like this was unthinkable for a small business; today, it’s possible with AI. AI-driven innovations can be the factor that sets your offering apart in the market.

Human potential is also extremely important. Your employees will certainly appreciate it if you relieve them of monotonous drudgery. They’ll be able to focus on more creative, strategic activities. Their work will be more interesting and fulfilling. For example, a lawyer on the team won’t have to spend hours searching for case law-AI will do it for them, while they think about their argumentation strategy. Or a salesperson won’t have to write reports; AI will write them, and they can instead focus on building relationships with clients. Happier and more productive employees mean lower turnover and more innovation from within the company. You could say that AI expands people’s capabilities-what they can do on their own, they can do twice or ten times as well with AI. Why not give them such a “superpower”?

For small businesses in particular, AI is an equalizer of opportunities. Don’t have an army of analysts like corporations do? No problem-AI will handle the analytics for you. Don’t have the budget for a massive call center? A chatbot can serve a large number of customers at a low cost. Historically, technological innovations have often widened the gap between big and small, but generative AI is relatively cheap and accessible, so small businesses can be more agile and flexible in their use of it and even outpace slower large corporations. If you’re a startup-AI will allow you to scale without a linear increase in staff. For example, many startups today have 5 employees, but with AI, they can handle what previously required 15 people. The costs of starting a business are falling thanks to AI (less outsourcing, more done in-house quickly).

And finally, there’s also a visionary aspect. AI is a trend shaping the future. Being part of it from the start will give you the know-how, contacts, and image of an innovative company. This can attract investors, partners, and talented employees-everyone wants to work with those who keep up with the times. Conversely, if you were to ignore AI, you might gradually lose your relevance. The world will move on, and you would be left with practices from the last decade. Inspiration: Let’s look at history-companies that were the first to adopt the internet gained a huge head start (e.g., the first online banks attracted millions of customers). With AI, we are at a similar turning point.

Of course, you also need to be patient and ready to learn. Not everything will work on the first try. You may find that your first AI pilot didn’t yield savings-don’t dismiss it right away, but learn from it and try a different approach. A culture of experimentation is key here. Think of it as a continuous process of improving your business with new technology.

Finally, let’s imagine the near future: Every company, big or small, has its own AI assistant-maybe they call it Alfred or Ema-that helps out across departments. Employees can’t say enough good things about it; it saves them time. Customers feel that services are fast and personalized. Bosses see that the company has grown while costs haven’t. And the competition? They may be playing catch-up. This isn’t a utopia-this could be reality sooner than we think.

So don’t hesitate: start experimenting with AI today. Start small, learn, then scale up. Engage your team, look for ideas where AI can make work easier or open up new possibilities. The world of innovators belongs to those who take action. And as the saying goes: The future is shaped by those who participate in it. AI is a major part of the future of business-be a part of it too, and let this wave carry you forward, not overwhelm you.

We believe this comprehensive overview has provided you with useful information and inspiration. Large language models are no longer just a tech buzzword-they are a practical tool you can use to your advantage. Now is the right time to jump on the AI bandwagon and get the most out of it for your business. We wish you good luck and success on your AI journey!
